This collection was published to coincide with a reading tour that Micahel Sharkey made in Germany in September 2000. He put together some poems of the previoustwelve months or so, a period when he had written in several styles, as usual, but he thought some of the poems marked a freeing up of a tendency topolish work too much Consequently,
he assembled this parody that grew into a different sort of tribute
(the elegy for John Forbes), some meditations onpersonal and general
histories, odes on various topics, and the longer title poem that takes
a reflective stroll around the idea of a 'Park'. |
