Jean Ensbey

Jean Ensbey is a long time resident of Wooli (North Coast NSW, Australia) who initially came to Wooli as a one of the communities early teachers inthe 1940's.

Jean was instrumental in helping education facilties in the community progress from instruction being conducted on the verandah of the community hall to having a school building relocated to cater for the growing school-age population.

Her involvement in the community in may ways mirrors the one of her husband Colin (known as Joe). Both have been long time community involvees spending considerable time as voluinteers with the Wooli Rural Fire Service and the Wooli Volunteer Rescue Squad being Life Members of both organisations. Both were foundation members of the Wooli Bowling and Recreation Club and both were actively involved in local businesses and the fishing industry.

Retiring from teaching to raise a family and concentrate on the family business, Jean also found time to take over as Manager of the Wooli Fisherman's Cooperative providing it with many years of experienced management that saw it become one of the best run Cooperatives in NSW.
